The Annual Pagdayao Fiesta will
be celebrated on June 11-13, 2010. Among the highlights of the
event are Teachers Night on June 11, Barangay Night on June 12 and City/Grand
Night on June 13. The Guest Speaker for the barangay night is P/Sr Supt Eddie
Benigay. He was unanimously chosen by the Committee on Festivity being an
active leader in maintaining the peace and order in MasbateCity. During the Grand night
cebration on the 13th, Atty. Rainier Butalid will be the Guest
Speaker being a fellow Masbateňo who is very successful in his field of
endeavour. His presence will surely be an inspiration to Masbateňos.
Mayor
Socrates M. Tuason convened the different local bodies of the City last March 9-10, 2010. These special bodies
are Local Disaster Coordinating Council, Local Health Board, Local School Board
and Local Council for the Protection of Children. He is the Chairperson of all
the local special bodies set forth by the Local Government Code of 1991 and
through Memorandum Circulars from the Department of Interior and Local
Government. As provided and defined in the previsions of this Code, all local
government units should established local special bodies and ensure the
participation of the people’s and non-government organizations to become active
partners in its pursuit of development.
These
special bodies will help the Local Chief Executive in setting directions on
social economic policies and other relevant programs for the City in its
holistic development. During the meeting, it passed some resolutions relevant
to the welfare of the people being targeted by these special bodies.
The
councils also set regular meetings to ensure that all these special bodies are
functional and are strengthened.
LAPAY BANTIGUE FESTIVAL: GAYON BIKOL’S CHAMPION
Its 2nd in a row for
Lapay Bantigue Dance Festival of Masbate City after it was adjudged champion in
the 2010 Bikol Festival of Festivals. The Festival was held last February 11,
2010 at IrigaCity,
Camarines Sur during its Tinagba Festival.
The
Lapay Bantigue Festival surfaced over the other nine competing contingents from
the Bicol Region. These are Palong Festival (Camarines Norte), Pinili Festival
(Pili Camarines Sur), Paraw Festival (SorsogonProvince), Catandungan Festival
(Catanduanes), Tabak Festival (TabaccoCity), Pili Festival (SorsogonCity), Ibalong Festival (LegazpiCity) and Pulang-Angui Festival
(Albay). Also, it received two minor awards as Best in Moving Choreography and
Best in Costume.
NOTICE OF PAYMENT OF THE 1.5% OR 1% BASIC REAL PROPERTY TAX AND 1% SPECIAL EDUCATION TAX
Notice is hereby given pursuant
to the salient provisions of Article 6 of the 2008 Revenue Tax Code of the City
of the City of Masbate implementing
Section 40 of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code
of 1991, the one point five percent (1.5%) Basic Real State Property Tax for
industrial lands/ buildings and other structures; Commercial lands/ buildings
and other structures; Mineral lands, Timberlands, Special classes, and
Machineries, one percent (1%) for Residential lands/ buildings and other
structures; Agricultural lands/ buildings and other structures and the
additional one percent (1%) Special Education Tax for Calendar Year 2010, may
be paid in four (4) equal installments without interest at the option of the
taxpayer, as follows:

The City Vetenerarian Office headed by Dr. Wayne F. Laurio is
conducting (Anti-Rabies, Hog Cholera, Hemorrhagic Septicemia, Vaccination,
Deworming, Treatment of Livestock and Poultry, in Coastal Barangays, Upland
